The James Weldon Johnson Institute, in partnership with the Auburn Avenue Research Library and Charis Books & More, invites you to a book conversation featuring Marion Orr, author of "House of Diggs: The Rise and Fall of America’s Most Consequential Black Congressman, Charles C. Diggs, Jr.", in conversation with Andra Gillespie, Director of JWJI. Marion Orr, Frederick Lippitt Professor of Public Policy and Professor of Political Science and Urban Studies at Brown University, will discuss his latest book, the first biography of Charles C. Diggs Jr., Michigan’s first Black member of the U.S. House of Representatives and one of the most consequential Black political leaders of the twentieth century.
